Randall
Balmer is the Ann Whitney Olin Professor of American Religion
at Barnard College, Columbia University. Dr. Balmer has published widely
for both academic and popular presses. Among his many books on American
religion are Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory: A Journey into the Evangelical
Subculture in America (Oxford), which was made into an Emmy-nominated
PBS documentary; The Encyclopedia of Evangelicalism (Baylor);
and Religion in Twentieth Century America, part of the Religion
in American Life series (Oxford). A new book, Thy Kingdom Come: How
the Religious Right Distorts the Faith and Threatens America, is
forthcoming from Basic Books.
