Campbell McGrath, the Philip and Patricia Frost Professor of Creative Writing at Florida International University, in Miami, is the author, most recently, of Florida Poems.
Stephan Palmié is associate professor of anthropology at
the University of Chicago. He is the author of two monographs, The
Exile of the Gods: The History and Belief System of an Afro-Cuban
Religion (1991, in German) and Wizards and Scientists: Explorations
in Afro-Cuban Modernity and Tradition (2002), editor of Slave
Cultures and the Cultures of Slavery (1995), and co-editor of
a four volume edition of C.G.A. Oldendorp's late eighteenth century
History of the Moravian Mission on the Caribbean Islands of St.
Thomas, St. John and St. Croix (2000, 2002).
