Lew
Daly is a Senior Fellow at Demos: A Network for Ideas & Action,
and he was formerly an assistant to broadcast journalist Bill Moyers assigned
to special projects. He is the author of God and the Welfare State
(MIT Press, 2006), and of a forthcoming book, The Gift of the Past,
co-authored with Gar Alperovitz. His essay “In Search of the Common Good”
is adapted from research undertaken for another book, Godless Economy:
Faith-Based Welfare and the Limited State, (Chicago, 2009). An earlier
version appeared in The Boston Review (May/June 2007). Daly received
his Ph.D. in Renaissance Literature from SUNY Buffalo, with a focus on
religion, law, and politics in the English Revolution. He also holds an
M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary and an M.A. from Brown University.
Thomas Zebrowski is a Ph.D. Candidate in Ethics at the University of Chicago Divinity School writing a dissertation on "Theology and Philosophy in the Ethics of Alasdair MacIntyre." He holds degrees from Oxford University and Santa Clara University.
